Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026 · version 2026-10-18 · Terms of Use
This policy explains what FriendsWithBets collects, how it is used, and your choices. It covers friendswithbets.com and app.friendswithbets.com (the "Service"). In short: we collect only what is needed to run private pick'em leagues, we do not run ads or behavioral tracking, and we do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
You give us:
- Email address and a display name you choose (sign-in, account recovery, and how other members see you).
- A password (handled by our authentication provider; we never see it in readable form) and, if you turn it on, two-factor authentication information.
- An optional favorite NFL team (used only for a cosmetic color theme).
- Your picks, Message board posts, league names, and the emails of people you invite.
- Your acceptance of these Terms and Privacy Policy, with the date and version.
Created by using the Service: pick history, point balances, standings, an activity log of actions taken in a league (who did what and when), and a record if a League Manager drops you from a league.
Collected automatically: technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, and request logs, collected by our hosting and authentication providers for security and reliability.
Cookies: the app uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember that you accepted the Terms. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies in the app. The marketing site (friendswithbets.com) is hosted by WordPress.com, which may collect visitor statistics and set cookies.
We do not collect payment card or bank information, government ID, Social Security numbers, precise location, or your contacts. No real money moves through the Service.
2. How we use information
- To run the Service: create your account, authenticate you, run leagues, post spreads, score picks, and show standings.
- To send service emails such as sign-in confirmations, password resets, and invitations.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, fix problems, and provide support.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not use your information for advertising or behavioral profiling, and we do not sell or share it for those purposes.
3. Who can see your information
- Other members of your league see your display name, point balance, record, Message board posts, and your picks according to the pick-reveal rule (others' picks are hidden until a game starts or everyone in the week has picked).
- Your League Manager can also see the email addresses of the members of their league.
- If a League Manager drops you from a league, that is recorded. League Managers of leagues you belong to can see a flag that you dropped out of a league, and you can see it on your own History page.
- The Site Owner and administrators can access Service data as needed to operate it.
- Members of other leagues cannot see your picks, balances, or messages. Access is separated by league at the database level.
4. Service providers
We use providers to run the Service. They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes beyond providing the service:
- Supabase — database and authentication.
- Vercel — hosting of the app.
- Resend — sending service emails.
- WordPress.com (Automattic) — hosting of the marketing website.
- The Odds API and ESPN — sources of NFL and college football spreads and scores. We send them no personal information.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the Service, or in a business transfer. We do not sell personal information.
5. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. League records (picks, point ledger entries) involve other members and are needed to keep their history accurate; when an account is deleted, we remove or anonymize your personal details and may keep ledger entries in anonymized form. Backups and logs are deleted on a rolling basis.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update your display name and favorite team in your profile. To access, correct, export, or delete your information, or to ask a privacy question, email fnfscott4@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
7. Security
We use industry-standard managed services, encryption in transit, database-level access controls that separate each league's data, no secrets in the browser, and optional two-factor sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is for people 21 and older and is not directed to children. If we learn we have collected information from someone under 21, we will delete it.
9. Where data is stored
The Service is intended for U.S. users, and data is processed in the United States.
10. Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version with its effective date; material changes will also be communicated through the Service or by email, and may ask you to accept the new version.
